Our Students
Hunterdon Learning Center students are:
  • between the ages of 12 and 18
  • eligible for full time out-of-district special services
  • currently enrolled from 36 school districts in 8 counties (Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Union, Warren)
  • members of a school population of approximately 80 students that is roughly 60 percent male and 40 percent female
     
Hunterdon Learning Center Students have:
  • experienced significant social and academic difficulties in traditional school structures
  • struggled to access and develop the cognitive ability to succeed at academic tasks
  • developed maladaptive coping behaviors as a result of these obstacles
  • an appreciation for and an interest in learning about pro-social values
  • a rich variety of gifts and talents that may not have been fully developed in a traditional school setting
     
Hunterdon Learning Center students:
  • do not display patterns of physically aggressive behavior
  • do not display patterns of bullying or intimidating behavior
  • do not display patterns of anti-social behavior

Hunterdon Learning Center students benefit from:

  • small class size and personal attention
  • support, encouragement, accountability, and guidance
  • activities which are fun, exciting, and educationally and socially rewarding
